Collecting equalities data allows us to better understand the services we provide, the people we employ and the money we spend
The Council has a legal duty to comply with the Equality Act 2010. A key part of the Act involves taking the necessary steps to collect equality data on our residents and those who use our services.
When we are thinking about changing services or developing new policies, we need to understand the groups of people who might be affected by those changes or proposals. If we collect data on our service users, we are much more likely to know about the potential impact on those groups. All information will be stored in accordance with Tower Hamlets Council’s GDPR privacy notice.
